Ampex 467 Digital Audio Tape 1/2" wide, 10.5" Full Reel To Reel Tape - Wow!
Here is a rare opportunity for all the music enthusiasts out there. This is a brand new, old stock Ampex 467 Digital Audio Tape 1/2", 10.5" Full Reel To Reel Tape. It is a vintage blank media that has been carefully stored and preserved for all these years. This item is a must-have for collectors and audio enthusiasts alike. I personally put this into humidity controlled storage several decades ago & then proceeded to forget about it. Recently, a clean out of storage brought it back to my attention. The reel itself is still factory sealed within the plastic sleeve & in immaculate condition. The box is slightly worn from being loose in the container with other tape items as the container was moved from time to time.
Since this is decades old, I can't offer any warranty. But I CAN tell you this: Packed with this reel was an open, 456 reel of mastering tape. The tape on that 456 reel seems to be in immaculate shape (see image). So, if the open reel that was packed with the sealed reel is still in awesome condition - what are the odds that the sealed reel of 467 tape is in as good or better condition? It's your dice-roll - but tape by AMPEX does have an awesome reputation. And they're not making it anymore!
Oh, and speaking of Ampex 467 tape: This is also the formulation used in DAT cassettes for digital data storage. You know - a medium made for a flying head-drum spinning at 2000 RPM that wrote +30 tracks per second to the tape & was designed to work with professional DAT recorders as well as upper-line consumer DAT machines. Yeah - same tape formulation (truly DIGITAL - not advertising hype).
And did I mention: They're not making this anymore!
Due to the nature of this item, I do not accept returns. However, if you do experience some issue arising from the use of this item - I am a reasonable seller (as you can see from my feedback). So, if you open it and ghosts of recording engineers past flee the prison of their polyethylene containment & spray your studio with green goo - I may be willing to make a concession (just be sure you have video footage of said dopplegangers).
And, for security purposes, packing & shipping will be recorded to address any claim of damage, etc that may arise at the hands of our gentle corporate shippers.
